Sunshine and Good News

I am soooooooooo excited today. I guess only you that go over to Splitcoaststampers will understand.
I was chosen to be on the Dirty Dozen team. Whew! What an honor. It is something I could only dream about. And, now it has come true. It has been an exciting day now that the reveal has been made. It was hard keeping it a secret for a while.

O.K., now to my card.

Holy Smokes! Look at this bright card. I made it for the Mix-Ability challenge on Splitcoaststampers.
I'm working on Mixed Media and finding it so much fun. Really, my card is not this bright in real life. I tweaked and worked with my photo software but it just wanted me to post a bright card.

The challenge was: BAG IT:

Use a plastic bag as your "printing plate" and make a background for your project.

I used a Wal-Mart bag torn open and placed my acrylic paints on it. I brushed and smeared them around with my fingers. Then, I placed my cardstock on top of it, pressed on it, and got the colors. I used two different colors and did each one separately. The stamping of the sunflower, grapes, key, and sentiment was done next.  My sunflower was stamped and over-stamped in different colors. The center of the flower was done with Liquitex Modeling Paste.

I'll enter my card here: Inspired by Stamping March Customer Gallery

You can take your sunglasses off now as you move on. LOL  No, wait...here is the recipe.

Recipe:
Stamps-Inspired by Stamping/French Country and Graceful Hydrangeas
Paper-PTI white cardstock
Ink-Memento Toffee Crunch and Rich Memento, VersaMagic chalk ink/purple hydrangea

    Let's Bake Something

A bit different kind of card for me. This week on Splitcoaststamper's CAS challenge #263, the challenge is A Sweet Inspiration, Sweetly Does It-ceramic word décor by Polyvore.

I was inspired to use some of those cute polka dots on my mixing bowl and to make a card that could have a pocket on the inside with a recipe to send someone who loves to bake.

I'm using the Apron & Tools die set from set from Our Daily Bread Designs. I thought I would use designer paper on part of my utensils to replicate the B & K in the  inspiration word.

The letters are from Memory Box/Parker lowercase letters. The recipe card is a recycled one that I've had forever. I just gave it a tear and placed it behind the bowl.

That does it for me today. Hope you're having a great week. I was until the weather turned from 75 degrees yesterday to the high 40's today and tomorrow.  That's March for you, right?

I don't usually get around to making a card on Sundays but I was in the mood today. I really wanted to go for a walk in the park but it was a bit nippy with the wind blowing. I sure enjoyed yesterday. I think it was 70 degrees and sunny. Hubby mowed the lawn in the morning and later in the day, we worked in our back yard. I was trimming dead parts off my ferns, trimmed off the ornamental grasses and the wild clematis on the fence. What fun just to get outside and do something.

I love this bunny and pansies. I thought it would make a nice Easter card. It is colored with Copics.

The card was made for the Featured Stamper challenge on Splitcoaststampers, #370. I cased this card belonging to stamping_mynn.

    Rooster Behind the Chicken Wire

Today's mix-ability challenge #58 on Splitcoaststampers is Washy Washy. You are to do a color wash on your card. I misted my watercolor paper with water. Next, I used ink sprays and let it run down the paper. I let it dry a bit and placed my mini chicken wire stencil on top and sprayed again. That is why I have such a darker color at the right top. When all this dried, I stamped my images from Inspired by Stamping (see below)  directly onto the paper.

That was easy and I like the way it turned out.  I added a button and twine and it's finished.

    Masculine Easter....maybe

Good morning! Gosh, I haven't been here in a week. I've been busy with other things. There are not enough hours in my days. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Guess what? I made the Spring CAS DT on Splitcoaststampers so I'll be here every Monday with a new Clean and Simple card.

I'm not sure if this is a male card. I just don't know if a guy would like this ribbon.  The colors were to be taken from a company called Design-Seeds and the inspiration is for neutrals. Also, you could have a dessert option of a natural element if you like.

I guess my bunny is looking for his Easter basket and eggs. The things at the bottom I stamped and stamped off are really called Teeny Flowers but I'm using them as pebbles.

    Recipe:
    Stamps-Inkadinkado/60-00512 (sentiment), Art Impressions/G-2917 (bunny), Art Impressions/AAA-1368
Paper-PTI vanilla creme cardstock, Stampin'Up! Chocolate Chip
    Ink-Memento Rich Cocoa
    Accessories-Scor-Pal, Copics/E70 & E71, brown and white gingham ribbon

My card is soooo simple. I colored my image, added the sentiment, and popped it on the panel. All finished.

    U of A Graduation Card

Yesterday's Ways to Use It challenge on Splitcoaststampers was to use stars.  I love stars so I just had to jump on it.

I'm sure I'll be needing a graduation card for a relative before long. It will be for a graduation from the University of Alabama. The colors need to be red and white. The reason for the houndstooth.....if you ever attend a game at the University of AL, you will see a lot of houndstooth. This all came about because of Coach Paul Bear Bryant and his houndstooth hats he wore at the games. Of course, that was many years ago but the tradition continues.

I'm using my Momenta cut and emboss star dies. The embossing isn't showing very well but it is there. You can see a little on the top die. I love those dies.

It was fun to make a dimensional banner using the tutorial from Toni Storie on Splitcoaststampers.
It is located here. It is so easy. Of course, I added some houndstooth wings on mine.

I hope you all have a good weekend. We had 76 degree temps yesterday. Unfortunately, storms and back to 60 degrees today. The tornado season will soon be here and I dread that. I'm sure many of you are still digging out from snow and some from way too much rain. Then, there are the droughts. Gosh, what a mix of weather. Just give me sunny and hot!

I may or may not be back with a card this weekend.

    Dots and Circles

I've made it to the third and final round of the CAS2014springDTsearch on Splitcoaststampers.  Whew and yea!!! This week's challenge-Ways to Use It-use ribbon with two or more colors.

I decided I would make a large card (5 x 7) to accommodate this wide ribbon. This is really CAS and not much to say about it. I stamped the circles with a Penny Black/Concentrics stamp. The red button was placed inside one of the circles. I love these fun, colorful circles and they make me  happy so I used my sentiment, Happiness.

Wish me luck! We find out next week the ones who made the DT.

    Recipe:
Stamps-Penny Black/Concentrics, Inspired by Stamping/Little Flowers set (sentiment)
    Paper-PTI white cardstock

    CAS and Masculine

Today's CAS260 challenge on Splitcoaststampers is Border a Technique/Create a border using 2 or more images and/or sentiment stamps. I used two images and taped a strip of brown cardstock in the space between the two to give the appearance of one border. Hope that worked.  Added a sentiment and brads and it's finished.

I'll enter my card in these challenges:
February Inspired by Stamping Customer Gallery Contest
    Less is More #159-Masculine
    CAS on Sunday- #27- Masculine

    Happy Day

This card was so hard to photograph....as you can see.

For QFDT203-Queen for the Day, Mix26-Use a stencil and two or more mediums, F4A208-A sunny card, happy sentiment, or a card make someone happy--- Splitcoaststampers

The new QFTD is Kathy LeDonne and this is her card I cased.

To make the bottom of my card, I used a Spellbinders Shapeabilities fancy lattice die as a stencil and rubbed on Liquitex modeling paste that  I had mixed it in a bowl with Heidi Swapp seafoam color shine spray.
It was a bit hard after it dried so I did some sanding to soften it. I also covered the flowers with modeling paste and used Heidi Swapp coral spray on them. It did make them stiffer. The centers of the flowers are My Mind's Eye enamel dots. The sentiment panel is also spotted with the coral spray.

I'm using a Cheery Lynn Design Fanciful Flourish.

Paper is PTI white cardstock, Stampin'Up! Crumb Cake and Sage Shadow. The dp is Prima Botanical Collection paper pad.

My sentiment is Mark's Finest Papers and Stamps/Welcome Poppies set

Have a fab weekend. I know many of you have more snow than you know what to do with. The photos I've seen are beautiful.

    Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I'll enter the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge-Get Krafty-my flourish is Crumb Cake which is just about the same as Kraft cardstock
