Sweetest Day

Sweetest Day? I have to tell you I had never heard of a holiday called Sweetest Day. That is the challenge at MFPSPEEDYTV this week. I looked it up and it seems, according to Wikipedia, it is celebrated primarily in the Great Lakes region and parts of the Northeast United States on the third Saturday in October. Being in the South, we never celebrated that day.

I asked my coordinator at MFPSpeedyTV about it and she said I could make something for my sweetheart. I am guessing this is kind of a Valentine's Day holiday. Hope I wasn't supposed to make something with candies as some people indicated the holiday was started by the candy industry.

I like my little froggie and the cheerful paper I used. The stamp sets are from Mark's Finest Papers, Our Side of the Pond and Our Family Tree (sentiment).  I colored and cut out my froggie twice, popping only his head on double. I also popped the cattails. The sponging is for a look of sunshine and then I added brads. I'm using the MS punch around the page that looks like a frog to me (just take a long look). Do you see the frogs? Of course, that is not what it really is supposed to be.

Recipe:
Stamps: Mark's Finest Papers-Our Side of the Pond, Mark's Finest Papers-Our Family Tree (sentiment)
Paper: PTI white cardstock, Stampin'Up! chocolate chip, unknown dp
Ink: SU Chocolate Chip and Memento Dandelion
Accessories: Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page (quilted), sponge, gold brads, Copics

Awwwwwww, that truly is sweet--perfect for Sweetest Day! My mom and dad always gave each other a little something for Sweetest Day when I was growing up, but I'd forgotten all about that!! Thanks for the sweet trip down Memory Lane. :)

I never heard of Sweetest Day and I was raised in the Northeast. Of course that was a long time ago. The pink frog could pass for bubblegum if necessary. Regardless, this is adorable!
