CCEE Stampers/Make Your Own Background

Sabrina Friel gave us another awesome challenge over at CCEE Stampers this week. It is to make your own background paper. Let me tell you, I had fun with this one and really like the results for my Fall card.

To make the background, I started with a piece of  PTI white cardstock and used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in crushed olive, rusty hinge, and mustard seed. I crumpled my paper, smeared the ink on the paper, sprayed a mist of water on the paper and crumpled again. That's it! Very simple.

The stamps I'm using are Hero Arts/Real Leaves and Sweet 'n Sassy Poppies and Greetings for the sentiment. The inks used on the leaves are Memento Bamboo Leaves and Potter's Clay, and Tim Holtz Distress Ink mustard seed. I managed to ink the stamp in the different colors.  The sentiment is Memento Rich Cocoa.  I added some rust raffia and gold metal brads and it's finished.

It might have been simple to make, but doesn't it just remind you of some of the distressed Basic Grey papers? It does me - and it makes a perfect setting for those beautiful autumn leaves, with the raffia adding to the country feel.

You nailed a fall card with this beauty! Your background looks fabulous! I've never tried using the distress inks that way. Honestly, I don't use them much in any way...shame on me! Thanks for the inspiration on pulling those out ink pads.
