Remembering Eyelets

CCEE1310
It's been forever since I have use eyelets and it is fun to try them again. Charlene Merrick is the hostess for the month of March at CCEE Stampers and gave the challenge this week, The Eyes Have It-use eyelets in your design.

I decided to play with my burlap and smeared on some Liquitex Modeling Paste just for a little interest. On top of that, I used a Cute Circles set by Inspired by Stamping to make a tag and for the sentiment. I should have used another eyelet to run my raffia hanger through but forgot. I have used three eyelets, two yellow and the orange one at the top is an eyelet.

I had a great time making this card and we hope you'll join us at CCEE Stampers and make your own card using eyelets.

Recipe:
Stamps-Cute Circles (for circle and sentiment)
Paper-PTI white cardstock, SU Cherry Cobbler, 6x6 paper pad/Jillibean Soup-Blossom Soup
Ink-Stampin'Up! Cherry Cobbler, Memento Tangelo
Accessories-Raffia, burlap, eyelets

Guten Morgen Benzi,

Wow, what a wonderful organic look you got by adding the paste to the burlap - it looks great. That square orange eyelet is so dramatic looking and a great contrast to the soft aqua.

I do that kind of thing, too, with forgetting to add something that I wanted in my design. Your eyelets look great with the burlap, and I love your fun use of the modeling paste over the burlap for the added texture, as well as highlighting your polkadotted circle. Your pretty bg papers were the perfect choices for your pretty card, Benz!

Really nicely done. Great way to use the eyelets. I was reading a thread a Split coast about whether or not anyone still uses eyelets on their card...interesting thread. I like eyelets, but forget to use them, I find them easier to use since I purchased a cropadile.
Thank you for the nice comments on my husband's card, the comments have made his day. To answer your question as to what made him make a card? I guess after watching me for the last couple of years, he wanted to try it. He's someone that does NOT back away from challenges. in the past, he has made himself a suit, embroidered, cross stitched, and by himself took half the roof off of our house to put a dormer on. (No, he is not a carpenter)
Hope you have a great day...

This is so pretty Brenda! Love that you used eyelets in this card. I was making some gift tags over the weekend and used eyelets. I was thinking it's been a long time since I've used them.

Benz,
So very pretty! I hadn't used eyelets in forever either! I really like the burlap treatment - it's very cool and reminds me of a frosted shredded wheat - yummerz!

I've never seen burlap covered with modeling paste before, but I like it! I should revisit some of my older brads too, because this looks pretty neat :)

I hate to tell you ow many forgotten eyelets I have in my draw of embellies. I rarely remember to use them anymore, but I love this kind of reminder, Benzi! Love what you did with the burlap.

Oh, how cheery and fun Benz. Yep, that ole cropodile hasn't come out in awhile. I used to love eyelets, but now they are a pain in the you know what! But, it's good to get old things out once in awhile especially for you - catch my drift????? Great job! Love the burlap and the technique you used on it.

Yes, I haven't used eyelets in ages myself. It's fun to look through my stash at times and bring out the good ole forgotten items! Wonderful texture on this card with great design. I must try using the modeling paste some time! Take care, hugs!

Funny how embellishments come and go. I remember eyelets. I actually do not have any! Love your ode to them. :)
