From Our Nest

CCEE1318

Who can believe May is here already? It really doesn't seem like it because it has been a cool, rainy Spring. Rain, rain, go away...I want to work in my yard and it seems to be so ugly on weekends when hubby is home to help. Hmmm....is he ordering that rain? LOL

Shirley Quarry is our hostess for the month of May at CCEE Stampers and is bringing us some fun challenges. This week's challenge is Make it Shimmer. As you can see, or maybe you can't, I have shimmer on the center of my flowers. That is gold Stickles and I must say they aren't shimmering much in the photo, but they are looking pretty good in real life. I also put glossy accents for a bit more shimmer on the bird's yellow wings...not showing at all. Sorry.

I did have fun coloring my image which is a digi from Digital Two for Tuesday, taken from The Buddy Magazine. I tried to make my birds look like male and female red winged black birds. After coloring, I sponged around the image in blue.

We hope you'll join us this week and let your card shimmer and sparkle. Just add your card with the inlinkz tool. Happy stamping!

My card is entered into The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge-Free for All

Beautiful card Benzi!! Love the gorgeous image and the way you coloured it.

I can see some shimmer in the top right flower ;-), so I know it must be there in the others too. It's such a shame that shimmer and sparkle can be so hard to capture.
Love your red-winged blackbirds. It's funny, I was just looking them up somewhere recently. All we have are plain all-black, though the female is a muted brown a bit like yours.

Yes we can see some of the shimmer. Outstanding job on the birds, on everything. The black and white paper is so beautiful and it looks like it is part of an actual frame for this beautiful scene. I managed to get a little bit of evening gardening done yesterday, hoping to get more done this afternoon. I've managed to buy everything from the nursery, so I HAVE to find time to layout and plant. Luck to both of us. If it were up to my hubby, he'd order rain everyday (gardening is not his thing).

Benzi - this is AMAZING! I love your blackbirds - I see these birds in my yard, they always make a shrill sound before landing like they're announcing their presence and yours are colored beautifully!
Hope all is well my friend :)!
Blessings,
Audrey

I think I'm getting the same rain as you are, Brenda! It's very dreary today, but your card certainly brightened it up.

I really love birds and the way you encorporated them in your card is really exquisite. I love the way you colored them so that they look like a pair and the composition is spot on.
The sentiment is so sweet.

Benz,
What a gorgeous card! I really love the red-winged black birds. They are awesome to watch as they perch on the most wispy stem of grasses. They really are beautiful in the sun!

Beautiful birds, Benzi! I just posted a card with glitter in the flower, I need to go back and edit it. I'd forgotten about this challenge. Our weather isn't much better than yours. We did see the sun for a couple of hours today. It looked good!

What a fabulously coloured card, don't think I've seen this birdie image before!! We've got blackbirds at the bottom of our garden - they're my favourite birds as they've the most fabulous song in the evening, never sing 2 lines the same.

Don't you hate how the shiny, shimmery, glossy things never really show up well in photos? Hmmph! I get that too.

I really like this sketch. The black and white damask goes well with the birdies, and I love how the layers extend all the way to the edges.

Brenda, this is gorgeous! Love the beautiful image behind the gorgeous damask backdrop!

I can't believe I have missed so many cards you have done - wow - I am sooo late. I will be late for another week (the wedding is this week) and then I will be back to my normal self which is late only half the time - LOL! Love this vivid and beautiful scene - a wonderful card. Hugz - zillions of them!
