My Mixed Media

I decided to get back into the Mix-Ability challenge today on Splitcoaststampers. The challenge is Loving Layers. My card was also for the Queen for the Day, Robin. I didn't case a particular card for the queen this week. She seems to love birds and mixed media. I did use a stamp set from ODBD for my card as she is on their DT.

A lot went into this card. I started with brushing on Gesso, than poured drops of acrylic paint onto my  card. After brushing that on, I tamed it down a bit again with Gesso. I used spray templates for my designs at the bottom and the blue circles. Inka Gold Metallic Rub in silver was spread over the templates. The circles turned blue because of the paints I had brushed on. I have taped on three small strips of torn,  patterned paper

Yes, my sentiment is supposed to have a bit of color on it. I didn't want it all white but I don't think I'm happy with it now.

I colored my image with Copics. To get the color on the cardstock under my mixed media layer, I sprayed with Heidi Swapp color shine in coral and the same was done for the mat under the bird image.

Very pretty Brenda, and I like how you used all the mixed media. I've never tried anything like that, but you've got the hang of it already by the looks of this pretty card! Enjoy your weekend!

I did so enjoy reading the processes behind this beauty (and I think I have this stamp..was in a 4 bird set, with a beautiful cardinal???). I ordered some of the newer Viva Inca products from Joggles today. She has a fantastic video showing different ways to use the product, which is more 'gloppy' than the paste stuff I have. You did a wonderful job with all these techniques, and I'm chomping at the bit to try this. Love the acrylic drops and the effect you achieved, and what a perfect background for the lovely little bird. Liked the torn paper addition too! Great Job, Benzi! TFS & inspiring too! Hugs {the taxi leaves at 9am...you got time to make it over here! :-)}
