U of A Graduation Card
Yesterday's Ways to Use It challenge on Splitcoaststampers was to use stars. I love stars so I just had to jump on it.
I'm sure I'll be needing a graduation card for a relative before long. It will be for a graduation from the University of Alabama. The colors need to be red and white. The reason for the houndstooth.....if you ever attend a game at the University of AL, you will see a lot of houndstooth. This all came about because of Coach Paul Bear Bryant and his houndstooth hats he wore at the games. Of course, that was many years ago but the tradition continues.
I'm using my Momenta cut and emboss star dies. The embossing isn't showing very well but it is there. You can see a little on the top die. I love those dies.
It was fun to make a dimensional banner using the tutorial from Toni Storie on Splitcoaststampers.
It is located here. It is so easy. Of course, I added some houndstooth wings on mine.
I hope you all have a good weekend. We had 76 degree temps yesterday. Unfortunately, storms and back to 60 degrees today. The tornado season will soon be here and I dread that. I'm sure many of you are still digging out from snow and some from way too much rain. Then, there are the droughts. Gosh, what a mix of weather. Just give me sunny and hot!
I may or may not be back with a card this weekend.

Fantastic U of A grad card, Brenda! Love the stars and of course, the houndstooth! We had such strong storms last night, but it's sunny today! Have a great weekend!
This is just awesome! I'm definitely going to be CASE-ing this beauty! Love the colors, stars and houndstooth!
I'm glad you're OK today! Whew! I saw where a tornado ripped through Fort Payne AL and was hoping you were safe! Tornadoes and thunderstorms in February - it's so strange and scary!
Just love it and the stars is so effective.

Love the houndstooth, Benzi! Fabulous design!
Sounds like a great challenge, I have to go and check that out.
Your card is gorgeous, Love the design.
This wonderfuly done, personalized card is going to be treasured!
I'll use the same superlative I see used above: Awesome. Your stars are special...the large one does show up the embossing when I enlarged the image too. Love the houndstooth trimming. That is so so "designer". Very classy with the red. We had tornado warnings at 6am this morning, during a bad tstorm. Our burglar alarm has a weather alert on it. We didn't know it...and had to find out what was causing the beeping about 6am. NOthing happened though, outside of a terrific storm and some hard rain. Tx for the tut link, I'm off to check it out. Hugs & TFS.
Hi Benzi! Great card! Thanks for history of the houndstooth that is an interesting tidbit! I am with you on the HOT & SUNNY! Have a great weekend!
What fabulous graduation card, Benzi! Love the bold color scheme and the houndstooth pattern paper you have incorporated here.I am sure the recipient will love this :)
Ohhh, what a wonderful card, Brenda! I think they are OSU colors? You just need a touch of gray in there...hehehe! This card makes for the perfect graduation card...love it! I saw a female cardinal this morning, so I'm all smiles! Have a great weekend, hugs!
Tornado season: ugh! Not fun.
Your card is so handsome! I love the houndstooth mixed in there.
This card would be perfect if it had some orange and blue on it...lol! All joking aside, it is a fun team spirit card! Great job incorporating the houndstooth!
It is gorgeous out there today! Have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Benzi. Fabulous design. Love the red, black and white color combo - so classic! Your dimensional banner really stands out - great job and thanks for the link to the tutorial! Loll xx

What a perfect personalised card, love the story behind the houndstooth pattern too. Hope you've had a good weekend, I've had 'spring clean' fever and if it didn't move it got cleaned or chucked out!! ...need a few more of those weekends ;)
What an amazing grad card--I love your fantastic CAS design! The weather has indeed been crazy this winter. So much snow here, and then we've had 3 days of temps in the 50s! But we're heading back into the deep freeze this week--single digits are expected several nights this week. BRRRR!
Alabama raised! :) I have been looking at your cards for a while now and just absolutely loving them all - thought I'd be brave and post a hello :) This is a delight and perfect for the U of A graduation! Blessings ♥

Thanks for the story about the houndstooth. I never would have guessed since they are so southern. I think of houndstooth as wool or winter garments. I love your card!! A great card to keep for memories! The sentiment is wonderful too!
That is a great Collegiate Graduation Card! Great design!
