It's All About the Weather

CCEE1306
Frances Byrne is the hostess for the month of February at CCEE Stampers and she let the team know Feb. 5th was Weatherperson's Day so she is giving the challenge this week to create a card that features some sort of weather. It can be sun, clouds, snow, rain, etc. You would know I would choose snow so I'll have an excuse to do another snowman. :-)

My scene is from a stamp I won from High Hopes called Winter Wonderland. I left off some lines that were on it for snow as it was a black line indicating a mound of snow. But, I wanted to sponge mine. I cut a template from cardstock and used Tim Holtz Distress Ink/Stormy Sky to create my snow. The sky was sponged with the same color.

The snowman is a Royal Langnickel/Let it Snow stamp. He didn't have a body below the scarf so I used an EK Success 3/4" punch to make one.  I colored him, cut out and placed him in the scene.

The rest of the recipe is below. We hope you'll join us this week for our weather challenge.

Recipe:
Stamps-High Hopes/Winter Wonderland, Royal Langnickel/Let it Snow, Hero Arts/Sparkle clear designs/Gift for You set
Paper-PTI white cardstock
Ink-Memento Tuxedo Black, Tim Holtz Distress Inks/Stormy Sky
Accessories-Ice Stickles/Silver Ice, Copics, EK Success 3/4" punch, red jute

Beautiful card, Brenda! What a fun winter scene you created! As long as we don't get that here! Sun is gone and it has started raining again, but hopefully no snow!

That really is a lovely winter wonderland - love the swirls. And it makes a great setting for your sweet snowman. You did a lot of improvising and adapting and it looks just fabulous.

Great job on the snowy ground, and I love the red jute! We're under a winter storm warning with the possibility of 6-12" of snow. Ugh! But, back to your happy and cute Christmas card to say I really like how you completed your snowman, too.

You are so creative to add a snowman's body and create your own scene! I'm slapping my forehead, wondering why I never thought to create snow on the ground the same way I create clouds in the sky! It looks so beautiful! I love that red jute in the background - what a fantastic embellishment!

Did you look into your crystal ball to make this scene, Benzi? I think that is just how it is going to look around here in the next two days with our blizzard on the way ;-)

Hallo Brenda,
Eine wunderbare Szene hast du geschaffen und wie du den Schneemann gearbeitet hast, ist toll. Deine Karte passt gut zu dem Wetter bei mir. Es schneit gerade bei mir. Ein schönes Wochenende wünsche ich dir.

Well that was certainly an appropriate challenge for this weekend in the Northeastern United States for sure! (I doubt that Frances knew that, though ... LOL) Love your snowy scene ... and what clever work on the complete snowman!

What a cute and creative card with a lot of neat details...great sponging, and punching and thinking outside of the box with making the snowman...way to go. Only thing is...they are calling for snow here and I do hope it's not enough to make a snowman in real life here...

This is another wonderful stamp, Benzi! I love how you've colored the trees and sponged the snow and sky! And that snowman is just perfect in there with the pretty bird perched on his head. Snowman & bird. The perfect card!
