Well, am I bright today or what??!!!!!!! I bought this new embossing folder set called Fall Set by Sizzix (2/pkg.) and when I saw the Splitcoast Free for All challenge today (embossing), I was ready to use it. It is very bright and I had a bit of a time trying to get a good photo. I used a Marvy clever lever embossing punch called Oak Leaf and stamped my sentiment using a barrel of alphabet stamps I picked up at Hobby Lobby. The twine is Cappuccino.
It is also Queen for the Day challenge #74 on Splitcoast today. The newly crowned Queen is Carolyn aka snowmanqueen. I can't believe I didn't do a snowman card as I love them soooooo much. This is the card I cased. The image is Stampendous Star Lilies and the sentiment is Flourishes Zinnias. Colored with Copics, used a doily, and punched a Martha Stewart classic butterfly on which I stamped the sentiment I have on my Spellbinder nested pennant. The dp in unknown and the blue cardstock is DCWV and a terra-cotta cardstock.
Have a wonderful weekend!!!!!

At the Train Station
Vicki Dutcher, as hostess this week of the Stampin' B's Design Team, asked that we do some distressing on our cards this week. I did a little tearing on the cardstock and some sanding on my dp.
This card will go to one of my sons for his birthday. When he was little, he was such a train lover. While visiting my parents, if he and my Dad heard a train whistling in the distance, my Dad would get my boys in the car and carry them to the train station so my train-loving son could get a good look at the trains. So, this should bring back good memories for my son. While making the card, it brought back some good memories of my Dad for me, too.
Hope you'll join us this week for a distressed look to your card/project. Just go to the link above and use the inlinkz tool to upload.
I am entering my card in Speedy the Cat's Friends challenge #68 which calls for distressing.
Recipe:
Stamps: Mark's Finest Papers - All Aboard Mark's Finest Papers-Hearts, Hearts, Hearts (sentiment)
Paper: PTI white and dark chocolate, Stampin'Up! Welcome Neighbor dsp pad
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Cappuccino twine, white embossing powder, VersaMark, Spellbinders Shapeabilities Fancy Tags, Mark Richard gold metal brads, sanding file

Some Needed Therapy
Today was an extremely hard day. I belong to a praise and worship choir of appx. 200 people and our leader passed away over the weekend after heart surgery. Everyone is in disbelief and very sad. His funeral was held today. He was a retired school principal and knew zillions of people. Plus, he had lead several church choirs, including mine, over the years. The last concert we had with him was during the W.C. Handy Festival in our city, a yearly event. We were in concert with Ivan Parker, a Christian solo recording artist. I'm so glad we had that last concert with him as it is the biggest and best of the year. He will be missed greatly.
My card is entered into the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge, FTTC131. We are to use pink, one button, ribbon, and lace. My pink as you can see is not a soft pink but pink just the same. I colored these pretty clematis with Copics and popped up one bloom. For my sentiment I am using a Spellbinders Shapeabilities nested pennant. Added a button, ribbon, and lace...all done!
The sketch I used is from The Sweet Stop.
I want to enter my card into the Paper Crafting Journey challenge #17-Anything Goes
Recipe:
Stamps: Flourishes Butterflies and Blossoms, Flourishes Humming Along (sentiment)
Paper: PTI white and black, misc. pink cardstock, Moxie double-sided houndstooth/Senior Year

Accessories: Copics, black ribbon, Spellbinder Shapeabilities nested pennants, button from Jo Ann Stores

Crane
I love this crane and it was one of the designs supplied to the Tuesday Throwdown design team for our challenge #62 which is to do a non-stamped sentiment (mine is computer generated). McMahon Five Designs has supplied the wonderful images we are using this week.
Hope you'll join us this week for another fun challenge.
I sponged my sunny skies and colored my image with Copics. I was very happy to find this wonderful tutorial from Becca Feeken at Amazing Paper Grace. I know it looks like a Martha Stewart punch around the page, but it isn't. She shows how to use the Morocco Lace border punch by EK Success to make this pretty frame.
Other deets in my recipe below.
Challenges:
Icopic-Blue and Orange
Paper Pals Art-Use one piece dsp, one punch, one sentiment
Stampalot Challenge-Whatever you Fancy
Recipe:
Stamps: McMahon Five Design-Crane, computer generated sentiment

Accessories: Copics, Spellbinder Deckle rectangle nestabilitie, Spellbinder Shapeabilities Fancy Tags, Recollections Floral Embellishments, Offray grosgrain ribbon in yellow/gold, Scroll Border from Dusty Attic
