Easy and Quick Christmas Card

It's Friday and I'm here with my card for the newly crowned Queen for the Day on Splitcoaststampers. The new queen is Bev Gerard aka TexasGrammy. I think just about everyone on SCS knows Bev and her sweet personality, great talent, and  what a super gallery she has.

I cased this card of Bev's as I was needing something quick and easy. You could whip out several of these in an afternoon. I hand cut my banners from three different designer papers, added a sentiment from Mark's Finest Papers and Stamps, A Heinrich Co. called Greetings of the Season Mini. I'm using two punches, Martha Stewart peppermint punch and EK Success Paper Shaper star.

The papers are Making Memories - Advent Mistletoe and American Crafts/Dear Lizzy/Christmas Sleighing Song. The snowflake paper is unknown and probably picked it up at Hobby Lobby. The ink is Memento Tuxedo Black. To make my star more stable, I punched it with dp and then cardstock which I glued to the back.

I want to enter my card into these  challenges:
Simply Create Too which is to Use It Twice (two or more times). That would be my hand cut banners.
Simon Says Stamp-Anything Goes

I think this will be my last post until Monday when I'll post my latest card for Friends of Speedy TV. I have quite a busy weekend. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend. Thanks so much for visiting.

CCEE Stampers-Step Card

CCEE Stampers-challenge CCEE1230

Thanks to Lois/clownmom, I was challenged and tried a technique that I had never done before, a step card. That is what is good about a challenge, I suppose. This was fun, fun. You can find this technique on Splitcoaststampers by none other than our own at CCEE Stampers, Frances Byrne. You can also find a tutorial there for the side step. I chose to do the center step.

I'm using  stamp sets from Mark's Finest Papers and Stamps, A Heinrich Co. called Christmas Wreath Mini and New Pines.

I made a template for my snow by just cutting a piece of cardstock and I got out my Tim Holtz blending tool (love that thing) and some Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Stormy Sky and inked it.

Some of the trees were embossed using VersaMark Dazzle and PearLustre embossing powder by Stampendous. The color is Jade. The other trees were stamped with Memento Bamboo Leaves,  and not embossed,  to give a farther away look. I think the Jade embossed trees look as if they have some sun shining on them toward the bottom. It's really my lighting.

My card has one of those eye trick things (optical illusions)..when I look at the embossed panel strip on the left, it sometimes looks debossed and other times embossed.  Is it just my eyes or do you see that? It really is embossed. :-)

Sizzix embossing folder (from my sis)-Christmas Set #6 (I used the strips in the set)

The Blues

I wanted to make a card for the central theme of the 'Summertime' Fan Club Challenge on Splitcoaststampers and thought this stamp would fit perfectly. It is by Stamps Happen, Inc and is The Magic of Music.

To explain the blue heart, we are in the days of the W.C. Handy Festival in our city. This is when we celebrate W.C. Handy as he was born in our city in 1893. He is known as the Father of the Blues. Our city is filled with music of all kinds day and night in this 10 day festival. I will be singing in a concert on Friday night and really look forward to it.

My card is entered into the Simon Says Stamp challenge this week-Anything Goes
Thanks for stopping by.

Congratulations

I got to play in the Featured Stamper challenge on Splitcoaststampers- FS285- this past Sunday. That is one I almost never get to join.
The FS was SophieLaFontaine and this is the card I chose to case. I love the clean and simple look of her card. It took about 5 minutes to make.

I used a Martha Stewart punch for the balloon and the star punch was from EK Success. It is a border punch called Starry Night. I used the remnants for the stars. The sentiment is Stampin'Up! Well Scripted and I'm using SU paper, Cherry Cobbler. The white base is PTI White cardstock.

I drew the little 'string'  line with a marker to connect with the sentiment. All finished and ready to mail. Oh, I meant to say the card is 3 1/2 x 7.

FOSTV-Joy fold

Hope you all had a restful weekend, got rain if needed, and temperatures dropped where it is so hot. We have thunderstorms just about every day..sometimes a good rain and other times, just a few sprinkles. Bad news! The parents of my DIL had their house burn from lightning last week. It was a severe lightning storm and they arrived home, opened the garage door and smoke was pouring out. It's a total loss. I can't imagine how terrible it would be to lose so many possessions and many memories. As we all know,  some things just can't be covered by insurance. They had just been through tornado weather and had terrible damage from a hailstorm in April. But, they're being very strong and I think they will make it through the rebuilding just fine.

Today's Friends of Speedy TV challenge #30 is to make a joy fold card. I believe this is the first one I've made. I decided to do a square fold and I found it to be a lot of fun. When you raise the pine cone square, there is a place for writing a note. I stamped the cones, cut them out, and placed them in the lower corner of the writing area. The sentiment tab holds the card closed.

I'm using stamp sets from Mark's Finest Papers and Stamps, A Heinrich Co. The sets are Greetings of the Season Mini Stamp Set and Christmas Wreath Mini Stamp Set for the sentiment.

Anne Harmon from Home of SpeedyTV has instructions for making this card in the tutorial section or you can find it here on SCS.

Hope you will come along and join us this week at Friends of Speedy TV (FOSTV) for the challenge. This is the stamp set being given away this week.
