My Mixed Media

I decided to get back into the Mix-Ability challenge today on Splitcoaststampers. The challenge is Loving Layers. My card was also for the Queen for the Day, Robin. I didn't case a particular card for the queen this week. She seems to love birds and mixed media. I did use a stamp set from ODBD for my card as she is on their DT.

A lot went into this card. I started with brushing on Gesso, than poured drops of acrylic paint onto my  card. After brushing that on, I tamed it down a bit again with Gesso. I used spray templates for my designs at the bottom and the blue circles. Inka Gold Metallic Rub in silver was spread over the templates. The circles turned blue because of the paints I had brushed on. I have taped on three small strips of torn,  patterned paper

Yes, my sentiment is supposed to have a bit of color on it. I didn't want it all white but I don't think I'm happy with it now.

I colored my image with Copics. To get the color on the cardstock under my mixed media layer, I sprayed with Heidi Swapp color shine in coral and the same was done for the mat under the bird image.

Snowman Valentine

I needed to make a couple of these cards for my  little grandsons to have for Valentine's Day. Aren't they the cutest things? I found this on Pinterest by Julie Aston. She had cased a cased a card from Pegmac71. I know both of these ladies from Splitcoaststampers. They did a fabulous job. Of course,  I've changed mine up a bit.

The Stampin'Up! Top Note Die was used as a base. I used the Stampin'Up! owl punch for the eyes, nose, and mouth. I hand cut the rim of the hat. The top of the hat was embossed with a Cuttlebug houndstooth embossing folder and the bottom part with a Cuttlebug herringbone folder.

I am using the PTI Heart Prints stamp set  and matching die cut for the large heart. It is inked with Stampin'Up! Tempting Turquoise. The sentiment is Stampabilities/I Love You.

My paper is Stampin'Up! Cherry Cobbler and Tempting Turquoise cardstock. The base is PTI white cs.

A Basket of Hearts

This was not the card I intended to post today. I made another one over the weekend and I just loved it. But, it can wait until another day. I played in the CAS challenge today on Splitcoaststampers . It was a color challenge with colors from Design Seeds and you were to use two or more of the colors.

I cut out the hearts from PTI Heart Prints set and then stamped with the images from the same set. The sentiment is from that set, also. The tiny red hearts are from a Martha Stewart heart punch.

The basket is Marianne Designs Craftables 1208-Flower Basket

Simple is good.

I'll enter my card into the challenge at Addicted to CAS #30 where the code word is NEW. My sentiment is new. I bought it with the dies and stamps I received this month. I have used those but not the sentiment.

The Great Outdoors

I've made a bunch of cards this week, four to be exact....that I've uploaded. This one is for the Queen for the Day on Splitcoaststampers. The queen is Sharon aka shendrian and this is the card I cased. She used wrapping paper on her card and it reminded me of this border tape that I bought from Hobby Lobby a few years ago. I think it was before Washi tape even became trendy.

This made such a quick and easy card and that's what I want with a masculine card. Placing my border stickers on the diagonal was easy, lapping over the edge and snipping off any extra.

My sentiment is from Inspired by Stamping/Guy Sentiments. I'll link my card to the  January Inspired by Stamping Customer Gallery.

I believe this is it for me this week. I'm sure hoping it warms up for everyone.

I love the shabby chic and romantic cards so I thought I would make one for my granddaughter's  valentine card. She's three and full of sweetness. I don't know if she'll understand the corrugated cardboard and cheesecloth. :-) As she gets older, maybe we can  have crafting dates and I can teach her about these things.

I'll enter my card into these challenges: A Creative Romance where they have a sketch this time.

Tribute to Charlene Merrick

The CCEE Stampers are doing a tribute for Charlene Merrick today. Charlene would have been celebrating her birthday today, Jan. 22.   Being an alumni, they have asked me to join them. I was on the CCEE Stampers design team with Charlene when she was diagnosed with liver and brain cancer. She was so brave and fought a good battle which she lost Jan.2, 2014.

We were to case a card of Charlene's or use something on the card showing what she loved.

Charlene was a Dirty Dozen member on Splitcoaststampers where she was known as Lilluvstampin and was a terrific cardmaker. She was a such a kind and fun person.  I know she was crazy for penguins and I remember she said her favorite colors were purple, blue, and red.  I think she would like my card. I'm sure Charlene's chased a few snowflakes in her life.  Of course, if you've ever been to her blog, wheremmsgatherandmycreations, you would know she also loved M&M's. I had to smile every time I saw the name of her blog.

Charlene will be greatly missed.

Faithfulness

I wanted to play in today's CAS challenge #256 on Splitcoaststampers. The challenge is scallops.  That's a great excuse to get out my Spellbinders Borderabilities Curved Two borders...love them!

Two of my curved borders are colored with Heidi Swapp color shine. I bought it Saturday at Michaels and just had to use it today. The colors are coral (my favorite color) and seafoam. I sprayed them after I cut out the borders. I got a bit too much spray and wiped it with a paper towel so it would dry quicker. The seafoam had a glossy effect, as you can see.

My verse is designed by Dina Kowal for Our Daily Bread Designs. It is included in the set, Scripture Collection I. It certainly brings to mind that great hymn, Great is Thy Faithfulness, which I've sung many times with the choirs in which I've been a member.

I'm playing with the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge-EMBOSS IT-I sure hope you can see that the scallops are embossed. Look very closely at the white scallops. It shows best there. Sorry it doesn't show better in the photo.

I'm also entering my card at Word Art Wednesday-#115-Anything Goes

Hearts and Ivy

I made a card today for the Queen for the Day on Splitcoaststampers. The queen is Jean aka naturecoastcrafter and this is the card I cased. I changed mine to a valentine from her Fall creation.

I used my PTI Heart Prints stamp set and matching die cuts. The ivy is Marianne Design Creatables Bird, Ivy and Vine, Birdhouse die cut set and I used a Spellbinders rectangle die.

I sponged Stampin'Up! Bermuda Bay in side the rectangle die and popped on the hearts.

The sentiment is from Mark's Finest Papers and Stamps-You Are Cherished.

I think this will be it for me this week. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Text Love

Hmmmmm.....just couldn't decide whether I wanted to upload this card or not. It is one of those cards you aren't sure about. But, here it is.

My card was a case of a card by sistersandie and this is her absolutely gorgeous card. Sandie was the Queen for the Day on Splitcoaststampers last Friday.

The text background is Stampendous Dream Text...see the meaning of love? I stamped some hearts from my PTI Heart Prints stamp set and used the Stampabilities Written I Love You sentiment. Tied a ribbon and added a button.

The ink is Stampin'Up! Bermuda Bay and Memento Tuxedo Black. The ribbon is SU Bermuda Bay. I added a bit of Carribean twine from The Twinery.

Edged Hearts

I'm so happy with my card today. It took a while for me to get it made because of cutting and stamping. But,  I think it was well worth it. With this sentiment, I think it'll just have to be for my hubby.

I'm using PTI's Heart Prints stamp set and matching dies. I just love them. I had seen this card on Pinterest and knew I just had to try it. It is a card made by Dana Seymour in 2009. She didn't give the size of her card but I made this one 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. If you want to make it, I have to tell you that it won't fit an A2 envelope because the hearts go over the back edge of the card. That is the way it looked like Dana did hers. As she appeared to have done, I cut off the front panel. I cut 1/2" off.

The ink is Stampin'Up! Cherry Cobbler and Tempting Turquoise.  The sentiment is by Printworks/It Had to be You. I just love that.

My card was entered into the Inspiration Challenge IC423 on Splitcoaststampers.
