Ending the Season With a Pumpkin

Happy Thanksgiving!! For those of us in the U.S.A., we are celebrating our day of thanks on Thursday.
I know I have so much for which to be thankful and could never list it all here. I hope everyone
enjoys their day with family and friends.

When I saw this adorable pumpkin belonging to Marisa at Rosemary Reflections, I knew I wanted to try to make one. So, when I learned the CCEE Stampers challenge given by Vicky this week was to make a card using brown, yellow, and orange and also include some patterned paper, this was my chance. Mine is different but the same idea.

My hair stylist got this card and she loved it. That makes me happy.

I cut my card shape with a Spellbinders circle nestabilitie, using my largest one. I ran it through the Cuttlebug with a distressed stripes embossing folder. The curly cues were made by wrapping my creamy cocoa cardstock around a piercing tool, the sharp end. I think the smaller item you can use for tightly wrapping, the better the curl. My leaves were made with a EK Tools layering punch/Fall leaf. The banner and pumpkin stem are hand cut and the sentiment is from Stampabilities and is called Happy Thanksgiving.

I suppose this will be my last Thanksgiving card made this season. Appropriately, the challenge for FOSTV (Friends of Speedy TV) is to make a Thanksgiving card. Mine turned out to be a clean and simple card. I'm using the leaf from the Autumn Glory stamp set and just sponged a bit inside each leaf. Then, I add some raffia and a brad and it is finished.

I wish all my blogging pals and everyone out there where Thanksgiving is being celebrated, a very Happy Thanksgiving. This will probably be my last post for a bit as I'll be away for Thanksgiving.

Nightmare on Challenge Street

OMG, what a morning..all because I decided to do a challenge. Actually, I had planned to make no cards today and get some things done in my house...you know, cleaning, laundry, etc. I noticed this morning as I was commenting on some blogs, a couple of my friends had entered and won at colourQ Challenge Blog so I thought I would just take a peek at their challenge. Big mistake!!! I knew I didn't have time but I noticed Arielle was from Alabama. Geez, this must be a sign that I should do the challenge as I am from Alabama, too. LOL Any excuse. So, I take off for the craft room all smiles, get my card made, all the while thinking I didn't want to use Taken With Teal. But, it turned out that I liked it. Then, I took my photos and went to colourQ's challenge blog and thought my computer colors must be off because everyone's Teal was looking Artichoke.
Wham! That is when I noticed I had used the colors from last week's challenge. Just shoot me! I head back to the craft room (not smiling this time), made the card again still using the Very Vanilla from last week's challenge, even after printing out a picture of the colors I was supposed to use. Once more, I had to tear that apart and use Kraft and White.
But, the good thing is, I could still use my cut out images. What a plus!!! I now have my card finished...AGAIN. I am uploading and hoping it is correctly colored. For more aggravation, I didn't have Early Espresso and swapped for Chocolate Chip. Also, I subbed Cajun Craze for Peach Parfait. I stamped the leaves and sentiment in Chocolate Chip.  I slipped my pumpkins, gourds, and acorns inside the pocket I made and they are held by dimensionals.   Would you say I had a bad morning??????? O.K., I didn't cry but wanted to. BOO HOO!

for stem on my sentiment. I punched the sentiment with my pumpkin punch, then cut around the sentinent leaving only the stem as it didn't fit too well. I think it still looks pumpkin-ish.

Five Challenges-Thanksgiving

I can tell Thanksgiving is on the way. We had rain finally this week (along with some really, nasty tornado type weather). We were desperate for rain and now that it has come, the leaves are beginning to really show their beautiful,  Autumn colors.
As hostess this week of the Stampin B's Design Team, I gave the challenge to make a Thanksgiving card/project using pumpkin images. I just love pumpkins and going to the pumpkin patch. Aren't they great for little ones...all kinds of rides, face painting, games galore, and choosing just the right pumpkin/pumpkins

This was my first tent card and it was really fun. I found the tutorial on Splitcoaststampers. It is in the resource section. I did a search for 'tent cards' and found the instructions. I stamped my pumpkins, water colored them, cut out,  and attached one inside. I made my cut out and frame with two circle nestabilities, one just a size larger than the other.

Happy Thanksgiving

It is really feeling like Fall here today in Alabama. Makes me want to go to the pumpkin patch. Won't be long until I'll be buying those gourds, pumpkins, and mums.
