Framed Sentiment

Today on Splitcoaststampers, I did the Queen for the Day challenge and cased this card. It belongs to Jenna Barber. Of course, I made a few changes along the way.  And, the FA477 challenge on SCS was to create a frame. I framed my sentiment after seeing this idea in a scrapbook store last weekend. I walked by the table and I think they had been having a class and there it was. I liked it and just had to buy the Fiskars small lever punch called Flowers and make my own.

Cork Card......Sailing the High Seas

Joanne, hostess of the Stampin' B's Design Team-challenge #123, wants to see some clouds on our cards this week. I took the easy way out this time and just stamped a few clouds, cut them out, and popped them on.
I have been wanting to stamp on cork for some time and thought this was the day. I didn't realize how easy it would be to do that. I bought sheets of QuicKutz cork that had an adhesive back and it stamped beautifully. I then paper pieced the sailboat and punched my waves with a Fiskars punch called Boundary Waters.

Getting Some Nectar

Birthday is the challenge this week at Tuesday Throwdown, challenge #61. Hope you'll play along this week. You know you need a birthday card. :-)
Tuesday Throwdown is sponsored this week by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. I am using the Hummingbird with Scripture image. Because it was a birthday challenge, I didn't use any of the scripture in the set so I would have room for the HB sentiment.

I colored with Copics and made my flower 3D by stamping three times and cutting out twice, then popping on. Of course, I did sponging in three colors...still loving it.
I used a Spellbinder lattice rectangles die, added a ribbon, flower, and a tag.

I'm entering my card into Frosted Designs challenge which is coloring this week. I did my coloring of the hummingbird and flowers with Copics.

Just When.....................

I made this card for the Queen for the Day challenge #72 on Splitcoaststampers. The newly crowned queen is Emily aka stampingout and I cased this card of hers. I believe she used cardstock for her strips but I went with some ribbon I had been wanting to use. Punched out a few butterflies, added some pearls and that's about it. Easy peasy!

Stamps: Outlines (no name)
Paper: PTI white cardstock, black cardstock from Hobby Lobby

Sunflower for a Friend

It was a hot 104 degrees here in my area of Alabama yesterday and I don't think I've ever heard more thunder or seen more lightning than we had about 3:00-4:00 a.m. this morning. It was non-stop and seem to last forever. I've had little sleep. Another hot day today with a heat index of 110-115 degrees but the temps are not as high. But, I still love summer. :-)

Wow! I have a very bright card today. Hope you like orange. Lois is our hostess this week for the Stampin' B's Design Team challenge #122 and she asked that we make a square birthday card with piercing. I lined up my Spellbinders circle, scallop nestabilitie and pierced around the  grooved edges to pierce around my flower. I stamped three times and cut out two layers that I popped up. Colored with Copics and added Dazzling Diamonds to the center. I am using a French Scroll punch around the page.

Hope you'll join us this week. If so, just add your card to the inlinkz tool .

Speedy the Cat's blog challenge #66 at Mark's Finest Papers is to use twine, baker's twine, jute, yarn, anything other than ribbon. I am using Cappuccino baker's twine.

My Favorite Flower????? No, although,...............

This week at Flourishes Timeless Tuesday blog challenge (FTTC129), Betty Wright asked that we use our favorite flower or flowers on our card or project. Truth is, the tulip is my all time favorite. I just didn't have a Flourishes tulip image nor any I wanted to use. Soooooooooo, pansies are one of my favorites, therefore, I chose to use this image.
Yes, I have been sponging a lot lately. That was one of the things I wanted to work on this year and I've enjoyed doing it so much, I can hardly stop. Plus, I like the fact that it makes my image pop. I'll have a card posted tomorrow with NO sponging. But, believe me, that image will need nothing to help it pop.:-) If you don't like orange, look away. Ha

The challenge this week at Tuesday Throwdown #60 is Summertime. Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps and More provided us with the images this week. I think the birdie's nest image I am using is just adorable. Of course, I am such a bird lover so this was perfect for me.

I used a couple Martha Stewart punches called woodland and classic butterfly. Embossing folders from Tim Holtz were used to get a lot of texture. They are the bricked and woodgrain folders.

Napkin Fold Card

I've gotten behind on my cards and commenting. I attended a funeral Friday, out of town, for my husband's brother-in-law. The only good part about it was we got to see some relatives we don't see very often. My husband's family is scattered all over the U.S. Fortunately, this person was from Alabama so we didn't have to travel too far. The deceased was an awesome person and was an engineer and a pilot in the Air Force, from which he he retired. He loved flying so much and built an airplane hangar after retiring so he could store his plane and rebuild wrecked planes. He was an inventor and contributed greatly to society.  He will be missed!

The Queen for the Day on Splitcoasterstampers is Carol aka Gingerbeary8. I cased this beautiful, napkin fold card of Carol's. You can find her tutorial for this card here on SCS.

I am using some very pretty dp and ruined part of it and had to go to coral thick, dbl sided paper to finish the card. I chose coral because some of the flowers are that color on the inside, shown here:
I will add a white sheet of paper for writing on top of part of the dp. I used a Martha Stewart punch around the page called woodland branch and a Spellbinders Shapeabilities floral doily motif die cut. The swirls are puffy stickers from Me and My BIG Ideas.

I would like to enter these challenges:
