SNOW!!! Happy and Sad Day

                         Pictures taken on TVA Reservation

How about this???? A white Christmas in Alabama! I have never seen this much snow on Christmas day. If we have any snow (which we usually don't) on Christmas, it is usually just flurries. O.K., I know this isn't much for a lot of you but more came. LOL
This is the first time in my life I haven't been able to go out of town to visit with family on Christmas day so it
is really hard. The meteorologists were predicting a little snow but I didn't think it would be enough to keep us home. We decided to try our 2 1/2 hr. trip to my sister's house but the farther we went, the worse it was and we heard another band of snow is expected later today. Plus, we are expecting the roads to be bad tonight. I sure hope my sons and their families get here safely . One is coming from Georgia and the other two hours away in Huntsville but it is worse  there than here.

No Christmas feast for me today. I do have the dishes I prepared to take with me but that isn't like the real
Christmas day meal. Well, things could be much worse so I will try not to be too disappointed.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!!!!

These things happen...and you surely have the right attitude.....better to be safe than sorry, the saying goes.....hope your family makes it home safely....and somehow, I am sure you can rustle up some 'grub' to go with those planned meal contributions....however, I do feel for your disappointment.....that seems to be the story for me this holiday too.....I have several traditional visits/celebrations to attend for the holidays and a few are already postponed for some reason or another......today was a quiet one as planned as it is only my sister, mother, and myself......then my extended holiday will begin tomorrow with something postponed from two weeks ago.....my word for my retirement is FLEXIBILITY and I have surely been using that attitude a lot lately.....

anyhoooooo...enjoy your day as it evolves and look forward to visits with family when it is safe

It has been such a pleasure to play with you on the B's and to get to know you through emails and blog postings.....sharing our loves for stamping and the ocean.....looking forward to a fab new year ahead...

hugs

Hi Benzi, What a disapointment to not see your family on Christmas day. You will have to do what my Grandson said we did Thanksgiving when we had to postpone it. He said we had alternate Thanksgiving. Maybe you can have an alternate Christmas! The pictures are beautiful! Being a New England girl placed in NC now, the snow brings fond memories. Only God can make such a beautiful scene! Stay warm and I hope you and your family can get together soon. Hugs...

I'm so sorry your Christmas plans didn't work out like you planned them. My neighbor was planning her big Christmas dinner for family and friends tomorrow, and of course that's been cancelled now too because of the predicted snow. Cheesecake anyone?!!? LOL
Better to be safe than sorry and I'm glad you're safe at home, even if you can't visit with loved ones. Tomorrow we may have a foot of snow 'til it's all over too, but we'll be fine and we won't starve either! I do hope your family has a safe arrival and a safe trip back home again too!
Thanks for the pretty pictures:)

Aww Brenda, I'm so sorry to hear you didn't make it to your family on Christmas Day ... hope your sons and their families arrived safely with you and that you're having a fun time now.
Bet you were surprised to get all that white stuff ... that will teach you for admiring all my snow which I'm glad to say is on the melt now! ;)

GORGEOUS pictures!! Love the quiet the snow brings if you get enough to get the city to slow down.

Two years ago we got 2 feet of snow and family couldn't all make it. IT was a quiet Christmas but always better to be safe than sorry! We made up for it by having everyone get together for Easter :) Hugs to you!!

Benzi the serene pictures are beautiful but Im sorry that meant you weren't able to go to see your family. Wise to be safe rather than risk trouble though. Most of my family wasnt able to come and my husband had to work so ours was a rather quiet small get together. Blessings

Benz, your photographs are magestic to say the least. As much as snow stops us from doing what we want to do sometimes, it sure is a sight to behold. I am SO SORRY you were not able to spend Christmas with your family. I know how much you love Christmas, so it is very sad for you. But, it sounds like everyone is safe and that is worth more than anything else. Hugziz and thanks for sharing your story. We got 12" of snow. It is great as my DH, DS and myself have not appts. or plans this week, so we can take our time and enjoy!!

I can't believe how much snow the southern states have gotten! We have at least 8" here. Sorry your Christmas wasn't as planned, but you had those foods you made to take, anyway!
