Raindrops Keep Falling..But Not On My Head

Good morning! I got a decent night's sleep so I am feeling chipper this morning. I have trouble with my sleep....took after my mother. Believe me, it can make life miserable when you get about three hours a night. Duh......

The raindrops on my card were a bit of a challenge for me. I did this card for the mix-ability challenge, MIX105. It was about two weeks ago and I just now had time to get it done. The challenge was given by Lydia/UnderstandBlue, the community manager on Splitcoaststampers. She had a waterdrop technique she wanted us to use. She explained how to draw different shape raindrops . Well, I can't draw. I tried one with my roller pen and it went into the garbage. Then, I got wiser and a pencil was used so I didn't immediately destroy my flower.  I went over it with my roller ink pen when it was o.k. She wanted us to stipple a little inside and outside. Also, we were to use a white gel pen inside the shading. Hmmm....I just about covered up my shading.  I managed to get three droplets made, two on leaves and one on a flower.

I colored the flower with Copics. The background was made with a color wash of distress paint. I used a couple of stencils, added a sentiment and enamel dots....finished.

Recipe:
Stamps-Stitchy Bear digi/unknown name, Mark's Finest Papers and Stamps/Bring on the Sun (sentiment)
Paper-PTI white cardstock, watercolor paper
Ink-Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories-Memory Box heartwood stencil, Dylusions alphabet border-small stencil....though, I didn't use the alphabet part, green enamel dots, Tim Holtz distress paint/peeled paint, broken china, and wild honey

This is just lovely, Fantastic coloring job with these flowers and your stencil work is so pretty. I think your rain drops look perfect. You must have been at the top of that class. I know what you mean about not sleeping. I can be dead tired and the minute my head hits the pillow I'm wide awake. I take after my grandmother. I usually only get about 5 hours, but for some reason lately, 4-4 1/2 is about it. If I sit down during the day I will manage to get about 15 minutes of sleep time in, which I don't like to do, but I can't stay awake. Things work out strangely don't they? Have a good rest of your day.

Gosh, this is beautiful. Can you share the link with how you did the waterdrops, because it is certainly most effective the way you've done it. I think your stippling & shading looks great, and I'm so enjoying that lovely spring flower with the pretty blue wash background. Just what I needed after all those reds! (I generally manage to get about 3-5 hrs a night, but I also nap during the day!!). And oh yes, you could do zentangle. They tell me it is very easy. I didn't find it so! But everyone was so kind about it...maybe I'll try it again sometime! Hugs & TFS - oh yeah, cold tonight and the next few days. Brrrr

Love all these lovely colors. I always admire your wonderful creativity. The is just beautiful with the coloring of the flowers. Suppose to get cold. I will be celebrating my birthday tomorrow with my boys. Heard of a new Scrapbook Store over in Sheffield. A lady in Joann's told me about it and now I can't remember the name of the store. But I do remember it is in the shopping center where McDonald's used to be. Where the Employment Office used to be. Hugs, joann

wowsser! what a gorgeous card, Benzi! I also enjoyed your cards from the last 2 posts - but this one is beyond lovely - so artistic, and very soulful.

I know what you mean about sleep patterns (or lack thereof). I've never been able to sleep through the night, which caused major problems in school - did you have the same issue? It's not nice when our bodies do not play cooperatively. I'm glad you enjoyed a "good" night's sleep, and hope that more of those nights are soon on your door step! xo
